AUGJOGV: Traditional Faroe Islands / 3 days
Departures from Torshavn

The charming village of Gjogv is only an hour's drive from the Faroese capital but the atmosphere and pace is very different. This is a great opportunity to sample Faroese food and perhaps do a spot of link dancing during the local Cultural Evening!

Gjógv

The village of Gjógv has its name from the 200-metres-long gorge in the northern part of the village. Gjógv means Gorge in Faroese.

The oldest settlement in Gjógv is “Eysturi við Garðar”, approximately where the church and the graveyard is today. The first record of Gjógv is from 1584, but it is believed that the village is much older than that.

Gjógv can be idyllic and peaceful on at calm summer’s day, but it can be equally dramatic and impressive when gale storms rage the islands.

This tour also includes a Culture Evening and Faroese Buffet which will give you a chance to sample local specialities!
