Cars

All cars are supplied by a major car-rental company that have several branch offices around Iceland. Choose between several types of cars or 4W jeeps. The satellite navigation system possible to rent (at a surcharge) will also give you information about the flora, history and interesting thing you pass on the way. Voiced in 10 languages and detailed full colour maps.

Day 1

Individual transfer from Keflavik Airport or Reykjavik Domestic Airport by scheduled airport bus to your hotel.

Spend the rest of your day exploring Reykjavik – a vibrant small city with lots of charming cafes, shops, museums and galleries.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel.

Individual transfer to the car-rental office in Reykjavik. Pick-up rental car.

Explore the valley of Borgarfjörður bay with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. Visit Europe's most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver.
Stay two nights in our hotels in West Iceland.

Day 3

Explore Snæfellsnes peninsula with its snow capped volcano, stunning coastline, lava fields and bird colonies. Visit the cozy town of Stykkishólmur where you can catch a bout tour around the Breiðafjörður bay.

Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel.

Drive to Skagafjörður; the valley of horses and home of Glaumbær turf farm. Stop at the former volcano Grábrók, where you can hike up to the top and enjoy a magnificent view over the area.

Day 5

Breakfast at the hotel.

Explore Akureyri, 'the capital of North Iceland', and Goðafoss, the waterfall of the Gods. Explore the sights of Lake Mývatn and catch an optional evening whale watching tour from Húsavík (June-August).

Day 6

Drive around Tjörnes peninsula and visit Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss (mid June to August). As you proceed further east, you should pass through a large wasteland area.

Day 7

Breakfast at the hotel.

Drive along the scenic fjords of East Iceland and enjoy the small town of Höfn. Explore the Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park.

Day 8

Drive along the south coast and witness the natural wonders of black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers. The folk museum at Skogar, which is close to the impressive Skogarfoss waterfall is also worth a visit.

Day 9

Breakfast at the hotel.
Your first stop should be at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park rests in a valley created by the power of the tectonic plates drifting apart.

Keep on driving to the Haukadalur hot spring area where you will see several hot springs, the most active being the geysir Strokkur, which erupts every 10 minutes.

The next stop is the Gullfoss waterfall (the golden waterfall). This waterfall falls in two cascades into a narrow and deep gorge. Further on, you visit the church and historical site of Skálholt before heading on to the volcanic crater Kerið.

Day 10

If you're keen on further exploration before heading home, the Reykjanes peninsula has plenty to see, such as the Blue Lagoon, Gunnuhver or Krýsuvík hot spring areas and Keilir Mountain. The picturesque surroundings around Lake Kleifarvatn are not to be missed. 

You don't want to miss the chance to cross between the two continents of Europe and North America on the bridge between continents.

Drop-off the rental car at the car-rental office in Reykjavik. Individual transfer to hotel in Reykjavik.

Individual transfer by Flybus to Keflavik Airport. Flybus departs from your hotel - please inform the reception of your departure time the day before leaving.
