AUILI: Ilimanaq Lodge Retreat /
Departures from Ilulissat

Departures from Ilulissat. Leave the busyness of the world behind and spend few days 'on top of the world'. The Ilimanaq Lodges are the perfect place to enjoy the amazing Arctic countryside. Situated in the tiny settlement of Ilimanaq is gives you the opportunity to see what life is like in a small community almost entirely dependent on fishing and hunting.

Ilimanaq (Greenlandic: Place of Expectations) is a small settlement situated south of Ilulissat. With less than 100 inhabitants it is a close-knit community which traditionally has survived by fishing and hunting.

In 2016 Ilimanaq Lodge was established with the intention of giving something back to the local community and also create a new source of income to the settlement by employing locals as staff and tour guides.

The 15 cabins are situated on the cliffs by the water. One side has glass fronts so you can enjoy the breath-taking views from both the living room and the bedroom. Each cabin is a little over 40 square meters (about 430 sq feet) and contains bath, toilet and modern furniture in a rustic, Nordic look.

There are various ways of exploring the area around Ilimanaq; from cultural settlement walks to glacier hikes, boat trips and driving by ATV through the rugged nature.

This extension can be added to any of our tours based in Ilulissat.
