JISW7RKV: Volcanoes and Ice / 7 days

Explore Iceland - the Saga island in the wintertime. The natural wonders like the geysirs, Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park are sights to behold when covered in snow and the evenings become enchanted when the sky is lit up by Aurora Borealis. Combine Iceland with a stay in Ilulissat, Greenland. Situated 300 kms north of the Polar Circle it is home to dogsledge adventures and enormous icebergs.

Reykjavik

A true blend of the past and the modern world. You will find all the facilities of a metropolis as well as the warm friendliness of a small town.

This programme is suitable for travellers who do not want to change accommodation every day and for those who like to have several options of evening restaurants and city facilities at close range.

Reykjavik is the ideal base for excursions to the most famous highlights of South Iceland:

- The Blue Lagoon.
- The majestic waterfall Gullfoss.
- The Geysir area with erupting hot springs.
- The National Park of Thingvellir, a historic site through centuries and a masterpiece of nature with a scenic lake and rifts which mark where the continental plates of Europe and America meet.

Greenland

When visiting Greenland, most people want to see icebergs, and the destination to see icebergs is without doubt Ilulissat. Due to the town's location north of the Polar Circle Northern Lights can also be seen in Ilulissat.

Scenic flight

The Arctic winter landscape opens up beneath you just before the flight lands in Ilulissat. and even before you have set foot in the small Greenlandic town, you will understand why The Ilulissat Ice Fjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Excursions

Travelling by dog sledge with your Inuit hunter to isolated villages or to the fishing grounds on the frozen fjords is a journey into the world of the old polar explorers.

Iceberg cruises on the Ilulissat Fjord provide the perfect opportunity to get close to these gigantic sculptures created by nature.
