Ilulissat means “iceberg” in Greenlandic, and the town lives up to its name! Ilulissat Ice Fjord was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004 and is attracting tourists from all over the world. Hiking around the UNESCO Ice Fjord and Sermermiut is a 2-hour trip combines natural beauty with a few historical aspects of Ilulissat. Ilulissat Ice Fjord is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ilulissat Ice Fjord is packed with icebergs, stuck in the frozen sea ice during the winter, creating a beautiful view that is hard to describe with words. Walking on the wooden board walk which leads to amazing viewpoints of the ice fjord, we will pass the remains of an early Inuit settlement. Afterwards, we will step on the hilly terrains to conquer the wild nature of Ilulissat and experience the beauty of icebergs and ice fjord from different angles. There is no steep ascends or descends during this tour. Thus, it is suitable for everyone to join.

Dog Sledding is also an option for today, and you can experience it after the hiking tour. Heading to Kussangajaannguaq 7, you can sit on the sledge and across the wild nature of Ilulissat with sledge dogs. People say Ilulissat is home to as many as sledge dogs as (and they are probably right). Sledge dogs are not pets! They are working animals and trusted buddies of their owners. Even though they look fluffy and cute, the wild instinct remains strong within their genes. You should always keep a safe distance with them and never approach, pet or feed them, no matter what!
