There is nothing as exciting and exceptional as the ultimate helicopter tour – Flight of Fantasy in Ilulissat! During this tour, we will fly at a rather low altitude to enjoy the changes and variety of different landscapes in Ilulissat.
Departure from the airport, we will fly north alongside the coastline, passing the small hunter’s settlement of Rode Bay from the air. Rode Bay is also named as Oqaatsut and it is home to around 45 residents only. Following the coastline, we will arrive at Pakitsoq. Till now, no resident has set their foot in and built their house there. A huge inlet will pass through a narrow canal to meet in the sea here. When the tide changes, it is a great place to witness the strong current. We will make a short stay here to enjoy this special natural phenomenon.
Continue our journey, we will enter the inner part of the fjord system and approach the inland Ice Cap. Sermeq Avangnardleq is part of the northern glacier system and used to be an active ice tongue. The glacier falls vertically into a little side fjord here. We may possibly make a stop on the mountainside around 1 km from the glacier front to enjoy the magnificent view of glacier fall and the glacier front.
Our Flight of Fantasy helicopter tour continues to Ilulissat Icefjord. This icefjord is packed with numerous icebergs crushing and pushing each other into the sea. The glaciers are origin from Sermaq Kujalleq, the most productive and fastest glacier in the world. Next stop will be Disko Bay, where you can witness icebergs of different shapes floating on the sea like shiny diamonds. When we reach the ocean area, we might have the chance to do some whale watching from the helicopter. Isn’t it wonderful?
The journey is around 1.5 hours with the possibility to extend it. The price is an hourly price, and it is the basic price based on 4 persons sharing a 5-seater helicopter or 6 persons sharing an 8-seater helicopter. The price is subject to change based on the duration of the tour and the actual number of participants. This tour will start from Ilulissat Airport and guided by experienced pilots from Air Greenland. Transfers from Hotel Arctic to airport and back are included in this excursion.

EQUIPMENT LIST
- Other clothing should be picked according to weather that day, you will not get much colder on the glacier as on the ground.
- Sturdy Hiking Boots – waterproof with good ankle support.
- Woollen/or thermal windproof hat, which covers your neck (alternatively, thermal face mask);
- Woollen/or thermal gloves (ideal as a base layer under waterproof gloves or mittens);
- Woollen/or thermal socks
- Warm, insulated winter jacket and snow trousers or salopettes;
