Combine the local life with amazing view!
Glacier, icebergs and ice fjord are the trademarks of Ilulissat. At this town of icebergs, you can find plenty of excursions involves with ice. And this is one of them.
You can experience a well-preserved Inuit culture and enjoy mass glacier during this excursion. With the departure from the harbour, we will sail towards the 5-km wide Eqi glacier. There will be a lot of photo opportunities. The area between Ilulissat and Rodebay is also excellent for spotting whales and hopefully, the gentle giants of the sea will appear. Eqi means “edge” in Greenlandic. Standing on the boat in front of this glacier wall, you will truly have the illusion that the world ends right here.
In this excursion, we will also visit a tiny settlement of Rodebay. As estimated in 2019, Rodebay is home to only 37 residents. Small as it is, Rodebay has a kindergarten, a church, one grocery store and everything one needs to live a peaceful and delightful life.
It is a nice place to experience the Arctic lifestyle. Here, we will have time to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
