Hiking around a beautiful lake in the peaceful countryside
Qaqortoq is the largest town in South Greenland and is best explored by foot. A hiking tour can take you into the beautiful natural sceneries and explore this place from another perspective.
“Hike around Storesøen” is a guided excursion with around 12 km hiking. Lunch, tea and coffee are served. Pick up service is also included.
Arctic Adventure guide will contact you by phone for the exact starting time. Head to Hotel Qaqortoq by yourself before departure, and you can find Arctic Adventure guide thereAfter a short introduction of this excursion, we will start either from the harbour or from the hotel.
We will pass by some main attractions of Qaqortoq alongside the way.
“Storesøen” means “the great lake” in Greenlandic and it does play a vital part in everyday life of the locals in Qaqortoq. It is a great place to fish Arctic char, a wonderful lake for swimming or kayaking, and the source of the tap water in Qaqortoq. And it will be the main attraction of this tour.
The quarry is the place people can get stones to build their houses. We may have a closer look if time allows.
We can also enjoy a beautiful waterfall in this excursion. If the weather favours us and it suits the customers’ mind, we may take a rest here and enjoy our lunch.
A football field and the “ghetto” (big apartment complexes) are also located in our route. Here you can get to know better about the leisure time and historical factor of Greenland, and to be more precise – Qaqortoq.
While enjoying the view of nature and the outskirts of town, you can have some hot drinks and lunch to boost the energy again.
