Russell Glacier is a gigantic ice wall of 60 metres!

Standing at the foot of Russell Glacier, it is easy to feel a little overwhelmed by nature. Russell Glacier is a 60-meter-tall ice wall, rising to the sky. Feeling tiny as a human being, you will be surprised by the power and magic of nature during this excursion.

There is no other place in Greenland where you can drive directly to the ice cap, so this is a unique experience for Kangerlussuaq. Located only 25 km from Kangerlussuaq, we travel there by a safe and stable 4WD vehicle. Once parked, we hike in the area and observe Russel Glacier, this 60-metre-tall wall, from the other side of the river Watson. The silent and calm atmosphere create a new world for you, in which you are away from your daily errands and routines. The beauty of nature will leave you with an impressive memory.

On our way to and from Russell Glacier, we may spot wildlife in the areas we drive through, for example; reindeer, musk oxen, and perhaps even ptarmigans and arctic hare. Fascinating stories and facts about Russell Glacier will make this trip interesting and memorable.

English speaking guide and warm drinks are provided in this excursion – however to get full enjoyment from this tour, we recommend your wear warm hiking boots with profiled soles.
