Day by day & Tour Map

Day 1 City Walk & Sunset Cruise

When the weather is nice and the sky is clear, you can spot gigantic icebergs and vast inland ice sheet on the flight to Ilulissat. Arctic Adventure guides will wait for you at the airport and drive you to Hotel Arctic to check-in. At Hotel Arctic, our guide will present you a warm welcome meeting and go through the safety regulations, must-known information about this tour and brief information about Ilulissat.

Today, 2 excursions are scheduled to show you the beauty of Ilulissat from different aspects.

Ilulissat City Walk: A walk around the city with our experienced guide is the best way to get to know Ilulissat. Arctic Adventure guide will show you the harbour, Danish trading centre, the old church, the museum and more. An entry ticket to the museum is provided in case you want to visit the museum on another day.

Tonight, you can enjoy a tasty 2-course dinner at Hotel Arctic.

After dinner, it is time to sail out to the sea and enjoy the amazing Arctic sunset.

Sunset Cruise to Ice Fjord including refreshments: At the sun is setting, let us board the boat and sail among the icebergs. Every day, numerous icebergs are moving from the packed ice fjord to the sea. With the setting sun at the back, those icebergs are covered with a warm pinkish glow. What a picturesque view! Our guide will serve you with some refreshments alongside the journey.

Day 2 Glacier Eqi and Rodebay

oday, the adventure in Ilulissat continues. We will head north and explore the 5-km long glacier and a well-preserved settlement.

Glacier Eqi and Rodebay incl. Lunch or Dinner: Arctic Adventure guide will pick you up at the scheduled time at Hotel Arctic, and then head to the harbour. Sailing to the north, after around 2.5 hours, we will find ourselves in front of an impressive glacier. That is the Eqi Glacier! In Greenlandic, Eqi means “the edge of the world”. As this 5-km glacier dominates your view, you will have the feeling of being in an isolated world and be astonished by the magical nature. On the way sailing back to Ilulissat, we will stop at a settlement called Rodebay. Here, we will have a chance to have some local food and explore this well-preserved settlement. If we are lucky, we may spot some whales and wild animals on the way.

The entire duration of this excursion is 7 hours.

Day 3 Hiking around UNESCO Icefjord and Sermermiut

Today is the last day of our adventure in Ilulissat. Before boarding on the plane, we can join the Arctic Adventure guide to walk around the UNESCO area to observe the occupied ice fjord and glaciers from another perspective.

Hiking around UNESCO Icefjord and Sermermiut is a very classic hiking excursion. Sermermiut is the place where you can find the ruins of ancient Inuit culture and a great place to enjoy gigantic icebergs and have an open view of the ocean. In this excursion, we will walk on the wooden track around Sermermiut and then do a steady hiking on the rocks. You will have this great chance to observe the ice fjord which is packed with icebergs, the glaciers floating on the sea, and the ruins of once-lived civilization.

After the excursion, Arctic Adventure guide will drive you back to Hotel Arctic. You can take the shuttle bus from Hotel Arctic to go to the airport. Please inform us and the hotels about your flight schedule to enable a smooth transfer.
