A classic dog sledding trip when visiting the Arctic

This journey will take you to the natural habitat of wild animals around Kangerlussuaq. Curious about the survival skills of the animals in the Arctic? Join the tundra safari, and you will know the answer!

Situated at the bottom of a fjord and surrounded by mountains and the Inland Ice Cap, Kangerlussuaq is home to many wildlife species due to its stable weather and generous sunshine hours. Travelling in 4WD into the back country, we are hoping to observe musk oxen roaming freely, bulls wondering singly or in a group, and the reindeer staring at you curiously just as we are about them! If you are lucky, you can also spot Arctic hares, Polar foxes, and different species of bird. Take a closer look at the tundra’s vegetation and flora alongside the road, as they are an essential part of the animals’ survival in the Arctic.

One musk ox can weigh up to 400 kg, and they are not as docile as they may seem! It is important to remember that the tundra safari will take you to the natural habitat of Greenlandic wildlife and the animals are NOT trained to perform for visitors! Musk oxen can sometimes be aggressive, so we need to keep a respectful distance to them. A pair of binoculars provided by the tour guide will ensure you get a clear view, but we also recommend you bring zoom lenses for your camera.

During the safari, we will take breaks let you enjoy the clear air, peaceful environment, and distant horizon with the impressive Ice Cap! Transfer between the hotel and departure point is included.
