Dating back to the early 1300s, Hvalsø church ruin stands as a testament to the introduction of Christianity in Greenland around 1,000 AD. It was relatively larger compared to other churches of that time in Greenland.

Notably, the last recorded Norse event in Greenland was a wedding mentioned in 1408, marking an important historical milestone.
